After a strong first period saving 10 shots on 11 attempts from the Florida Panthers, Arizona Coyotes goaltender Carter Hutton didn’t return to the game with a lower-body injury.
Karel Vejmelka was the first to lead the Coyotes onto the ice to start the second period, signifying the end of Hutton’s night.
In his first season with the team, Hutton was making his third start of the young season. In his previous two appearances, he had an 0-2 record with a 8.75 goals against average and a .702 save percentage.
After giving up 14 goals in his first two games, Hutton looked sharp early against the Panthers. Florida’s lone first period goal was scored late on the powerplay.
As for Vejmelka, the 25-year-old enters his fourth game of the season in-between the pipes. In three starts, Vejmelka has posted a 2.88 goals against average and .900 save percentage.
Hutton and Vejmelka are currently the only goalies on the Coyotes roster.
