The Phoenix Suns have signed forward Paris Bass to a 10-day hardship deal, the team announced Friday.

The deal was first reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Bass, 26, played two years collegiately at Detroit-Mercy from 2014-16 before spending his first professional season in the G League. From there, there isn’t any information on Bass’ next basketball stop until 2019 when he played two seasons in Puerto Rico. He led the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) in scoring both years.

In October, he tried out for the Lakers’ G League affiliate and was one of three players to make the team via a tryout.

The 6-foot-8 forward has been putting up serious numbers since. Across 14 games, Bass is averaging 17.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. He’s shooting 49.0% from the field and 35.2% at three-point range.

Bass becomes the Suns’ third signing under the hardship exemption, an exemption that was tweaked by the league this season to require additions by teams if it had enough positive COVID-19 tests.

As of Friday morning, Phoenix has four players under health and safety protocols: Deandre Ayton, Jae Crowder, JaVale McGee and Abdel Nader.
