Linebacker Joe Walker rejoined the Arizona Cardinals practice squad on Thursday after being released from the active roster earlier in the week, the team announced.
Arizona also said it officially released linebacker Tahir Whitehead from the practice squad.
Walker has 12 appearances for the Cardinals this year. He has been a practice squad gameday callup but also signed on the active roster in late December before Week 16.
He has 11 tackles and one for loss this year and has primarily played on special teams.
Walker has also contributed as a backup inside linebacker and played a season-high 30 snaps on defense for a Christmas game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Whitehead, 31, has appeared in three games for the Cardinals and picked up an assisted tackle in the regular season finale on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. He has played 40 special teams snaps this season.
Whitehead has spent time with the Detroit Lions (2012-17), Las Vegas Raiders (2018-19) and Carolina Panthers (2020) over his nine-year career. In 14 games (10 starts) with Carolina last season, Whitehead had 51 tackles, an interception, one fumble recovery and one QB hit.
The Cardinals take on the Rams in the NFC Wild Card round at 6:15 p.m. on Monday night. Tune to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station for all the action.
