Arizona basketball’s Bennedict Mathurin named to AP All-America Second Team

Arizona Wildcats guard Bennedict Mathurin was named to The Associated Press All-America Second Team on Tuesday.

He was the only Pac-12 representative on the three All-America teams.

Mathurin led the Wildcats in scoring as they went 31-3, winning the Pac-12 regular-season and tournament titles.

The 6-foot-6 sophomore averaged 17.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per outing while shooting 46% from the field and 38% from three-point range.

He will next step on the court Friday as Arizona opens its NCAA Tournament against the winner of a play-in game between Wright State and Bryant.
