Suns-Pelicans Game 3 tipoff time pushed back after Heat-Hawks delay

Apr 22, 2022, 4:55 PM

The New Orleans Pelicans announced that the tipoff time for Game 3 of the team’s first-round series against the Phoenix Suns at the Smoothie King Center will be pushed back to 7 p.m. MST on Friday.

The original tip time was set for 6:30 p.m., but the game moved back half an hour after the game that precedes Phoenix-New Orleans, a 4 p.m. game between the Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks, was delayed. Both games air on ESPN.

Atlanta said a suspicious package was found outside a gate, and out of caution, the police department closed entrances and cleared the area before determining there were no explosives in the package.

That tipoff for that game was rescheduled for 4:45 p.m. MST and moved back another 10 minutes.

The Suns and Pelicans are tied, 1-1, through two games in Phoenix. The Suns took the series opener and then lost guard Devin Booker and Game 2 on Tuesday as the series moves to New Orleans.

Tune to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station for the game.
