Jul 22, 2013, 2:36 AM | Updated: 3:00 am

The Phoenix Coyotes will travel 11,243 more miles than the average NHL team during the 2013-14 season, according to the calculations of OnTheForecheck.com, who has added up travel mileage for the league’s schedule since the 2008-09 season.

In total, the team is slated to log 52,633 miles in travel. The distance is second only to the San Jose Sharks, who have 57,612 miles to travel during the upcoming season.

The average travel for NHL teams in 2013-14 is 41,390 miles and the New York Rangers hold the league-low, with only 29,839 miles to tread.

Three seasons ago, in 2010-11, the Coyotes were also the second-most traveled team, with 53,843 miles on the year, according to the report.

The site also tallies the number of games NHL teams will have to play on back-to-back nights. The Coyotes have 12 games scheduled to be played on back-to-back nights, which is tied for the second-fewest in the league. The Sharks, Winnipeg Jets, and Colorado Avalanche each have 10 such instances on their schedule, while the New Jersey Devils have a league-high 22 games scheduled on back-to-back nights.
