The Phoenix Suns are getting a big boost on Christmas Day against the Denver Nuggets as guard Devin Booker is available after a three-game absence due to a groin injury.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported Booker was expected to play.
Booker last played against the New Orleans Pelicans on Dec. 17 and has been sidelined for a span the Suns have gone 1-2 over.
The guard leads Phoenix with 28 points per game on 47.7% shooting, adding 5.8 assists and 4.8 rebounds.
The Suns’ leading scorer hopes to rebound from last Christmas Day game in 2021 against the Golden State Warriors when Booker shot 5-of-19 for 13 points.
Booker’s return comes at a much needed time because of the limited depth Phoenix has had at the guard position with Cam Payne missing time due to a foot injury.
Payne is once again ruled out with a foot injury for Sunday’s game.
Christmas Day looks much different than just one year ago for Suns fans, as Phoenix looked down on the rest of the league sitting at 26-5. This year, the Suns hobble into a matchup against two-time MVP Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.
Denver will be without Collin Gillespie and Jeff Green for the matchup.
