Suns remain shorthanded against Nuggets

The Phoenix Suns will continue to battle shorthanded on Wednesday with the second leg of a road back-to-back against the Denver Nuggets.
Guards Devin Booker (left groin strain), Cam Payne (right foot sprain), Landry Shamet (hip soreness) and Chris Paul (right hip soreness) will all miss the game, leaving Duane Washington Jr. and the newly reported 10-day contract of Saben Lee left in point guard roles.
Wing Cam Johnson (right meniscus tear), Deandre Ayton (ankle sprain) and forward Jae Crowder (not with team) all remain out.
For Denver, Jeff Green (hand fracture), Collin Gillespie (leg fracture) and Peyton Watson (adductor strain) are out for Wednesday’s game while Bones Hyland (thigh contusion), Zeke Nnaji (knee contusion) and Bruce Brown (thumb sprain) are all probable.
After a surprising win over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday with just nine available players and four starters missing, Phoenix looks to do the same thing with one extra body at the guard position after it signed Lee.
Guards Damion Lee and Washington combined for 43 points in Tuesday’s win and will be asked to shoulder much of the ball-handling load again Wednesday.
Phoenix (21-21) will only have two games over the next seven days after the contest against the Nuggets, meaning the team can rest and await returns of its regulars.
The Suns travel to the Nuggets at 8 p.m. on 98.7, the Arizona Sports app and ArizonaSports.com.
