Arizona Coyotes lose sixth straight: By the Numbers

Different game, same story for Mike Smith and the Arizona Coyotes.

They lost 3-0 Monday night in New Jersey against the Devils, falling prey to goaltender Cory Schneider’s 38-save shutout, his first in three months.

New Jersey’s Scott Gomez netted one after a breakaway in the first period, and Mike Cammalleri scored the next two in the second and third periods, respectively.

Arizona out-shot New Jersey 38-28 throughout, yet couldn’t find the net — even after goaltender Mike Smith was pulled in the final minutes to make room for an extra attacker.

Schneider’s goaltending was airtight, however, and despite 10 third-period tries the ‘Yote’s couldn’t ring the bell.

And while the Coyotes continue to fade away, the Devils’ win was their fourth in a row and put them within eight points of a wild-card spot in the playoffs.

What’d the loss look like, by the numbers?

6

The Coyotes have now lost a season-high six straight games.

2010

New Jersey hadn’t previously beat Arizona since Dec. 15, 2010.

43

Devils forward Jaromir Jagr is 43 years old. That’s a big difference in age for some Coyotes players:

1,528

Speaking of Jagr…

2

This is Arizona’s ninth-straight game scoring two or fewer goals.

Of those nine, they have lost eight.

The Coyotes (20-33-7) will stay on the road for three more games and play in New York Tuesday against the Islanders.
