American sports fans outside of Philadelphia now have one good reason to jump on the Arizona Diamondbacks’ bandwagon in Game 7 of the NLCS.

Noisy hot-take man Chris “Mad Dog” Russo said on his Mad Dog Radio show Monday that he will retire if the D-backs win two straight in Philly to make the World Series.

“To make a long story short, I’ve been wrong on Arizona from Day 1,” he said before Arizona won Game 6. “I’m stunned they beat Milwaukee, I thought they’d be swept by the Dodgers, I never thought they’d even go back to Philly for a Game 6. I’ll try it one more time: I would not be stunned if they won (Monday), I’d be floored.”

This has since happened. But it’s what a win in Game 7 to take the series from the Phillies that has us most intrigued.

“I’ll say this right now and … write it down,” Russo said. “If they win the next two days, they win the next two games and win this series in seven games, if they win, I will retire on the spot.”

Who is Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo?

For the unaware, Mad Dog has made a career out of making outrageous takes. And yelling!

There are archives of his best — or worst — hot takes with just a quick Google.

He has legitimately angered ESPN analyst J.J. Redick on set to the point of frustration. His opinions are sometimes very bad, as Redick says, for sports discourse. But they are also very good for entertainment for when he gets roasted by his peers on live TV.

Anyhow, sports fans who know Mad Dog’s schtick are now very excited to root on those Arizona Diamondbacks.
