Arizona receiver Tetairoa McMillan was named one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award given to college football’s best pass-catcher in 2024.
The Biletnikoff finalists were whittled down from 11 semifinalists Tuesday ahead of McMillan’s likely last game with the Wildcats, a home rivalry matchup against Arizona State.
Colorado receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter and San Jose State’s Nick Nash were the other two finalists.
McMillan became the Wildcats’ career receiving leader last week and has 78 catches for 1,251 yards (third in the nation) and seven scores this year.
Nash is second in the nation with 1,291 receiving yards and is first with 14 touchdowns. Hunter is tied for third with 11 touchdowns and has 1,036 yards with a game to go.
The Biletnikoff Award is given to the nation’s best pass-catcher at any position.
The list of finalists left off Bowling Green tight end Harold Fannin Jr., who leads the country with 1,295 receiving yards.
ASU’s Cam Skattebo not among trio of finalists for Doak Walker Award
The Doak Walker committee named Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty (2,062 yards), Iowa’s Kaleb Johnson (1,492 yards) and North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton (1,475 yards) as its finalists for the 2024 award awarded to the best back in the country.
That trio, in order, leads the nation in total rushing yards with a game left in the regular season.
Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo is left on the outside looking in after he made the semifinalist round for the Doak Walker honor.
Skattebo, who missed one game this season, is 10th in the nation with 1,221 rushing yards ahead of the Territorial Cup game at Arizona.
He is fourth in the country with 1,681 all-purpose yards and second in total yards per game (168.2).
He has averaged 5.4 yards per carry and scored 14 touchdowns this year, which falls short of Jeanty’s 7.5 yards per tote that is among best in the nation.
Fellow Big 12 running backs RJ Harvey of UCF (1,475 yards), Tahj Brooks of Texas Tech (1,317 yards) and DJ Giddens from Kansas State (1,271 yards) were also in the top 10 in terms of total rushing yards.
