Suns’ Kevin Durant sprains ankle, misses 2nd half vs. Spurs

Phoenix Suns superstar forward Kevin Durant suffered a left ankle sprain late in the first half on Tuesday against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Suns ruled Durant out for the rest of the game after he did not come out for the start of the third quarter.

Durant appeared to roll his ankle on a drive to the cup with 4:30 left in the first half. After taking his free throws and hitting another jump shot, he exited the game for the final 3:51 of the half.

The veteran remained in the locker room to start the third period, as Grayson Allen joined the starters in his place.

Durant played 16 minutes in the first half and scored 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting, including a pair of triples. He also grabbed four rebounds and added two assists.

Tuesday was Durant’s fourth game back after a seven-game absence due to a calf strain. Phoenix went 1-6 in those seven games with Bradley Beal missing five of the losses, as well.

Beal returned to the lineup (left calf injury management) on Tuesday after missing Phoenix’s last game on Saturday, while starting center Jusuf Nurkic will be reevaluated next week for right thigh contusion.

The Suns won the game 104-93, and head coach Mike Budenholzer told reporters postgame Durant would be evaluated in the morning.
