The Phoenix Suns are keeping guard Jamaree Bouyea as the 14th player on their roster and cutting forward Haywood Highsmith, according to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro.
Both players would have been viewed as deep depth options when everyone on the roster is healthy.
This will be Bouyea’s second season with the Suns after playing in a career-high 46 games last season. The veteran guard had played in 19 games across his first three years in the NBA before joining Phoenix.
The 27-year-old averaged 5.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 14 minutes per game last year. Bouyea signed a two-year contract worth about $3 million in 2025 and will be a free agent at the ned of this season.
Highsmith saw limited action in his on-and-off tenure with the Suns. The 29-year-old signed with Phoenix in February 2026, was waived in August and signed back with the team about a week later.
During the 2025-26 season, Highsmith played in seven games. He averaged 5.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and one assist in 13 minutes per game. It was the first time since his rookie year that Haywood played fewer than 19 games, and he had played in an average of about 65 games over the last three years with the Miami Heat.
