The controversy surrounding John Scott’s All-Star appearance and the lack of a Coyotes All-Star died down Saturday night with the fun-filled All-Star Skills Competition taking place.
Scott participated in the Hardest Shot challenge, with his second shot reaching 95.9 mph. He was also in the Shootout Challenge and had both of his attempts saved.

He received one of the loudest ovations of the night from the crowd.

Wearing the NHL All-Star jerseys instead of his team’s jersey like the rest of the participants did, the veteran appeared to be having a good time.

The night included plenty of signature moments, including the Coyotes’ mascot Howler playing the drums during an intermission.

During the Breakaway challenge, San Jose Sharks forward Brett Burns poked fun at his growing beard over the years by putting on a Chewbacca mask during his last shot. Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban also changed his appearance, imitating Florida Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr.

The best moment of the night, though, had to be when San Jose Sharks forwards Joe Pavelski and Burns competed in the Breakaway challenge with their sons.
Burns was technically the one in the competition and his son was the one to score the goal. The two kids were so good that they fooled Florida Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo and New Jersey Devils goaltender Cory Schneider.
