GLENDALE, Ariz. — Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said center Alex Burmistrov was expected to arrive in the United States sometime Thursday night after a 10-day wait for his work visa and, as Dave Vest of arizonacoyotes.com reported, the return of his passport.

Tippett is hopeful that Burmistrov will skate with the team on Friday morning but he likely won’t play against his old team, the Winnipeg Jets, on Friday night at Gila River Arena.

“He hasn’t skated in over a week now,” said Tippett, who isn’t sure if Burmistrov would play Saturday vs. Anaheim. “We’ll get him back and get him up and going.”

The Coyotes claimed Burmistrov off waivers from Winnipeg on Jan. 2.

PERLINI’S PRODUCTION

The Coyotes re-assigned forwards Brendan Perlini, Laurent Dauphin and defenseman Anthony DeAngelo to Tucson of the AHL before their bye week, affording the young players a chance to keep skating. DeAngelo remained in Tucson but Dauphin and Perlini returned to the Coyotes on Thursday.

Perlini made the most of his brief time in Tucson, netting a hat trick in his only game (against the Manitoba Moose) to regain the Roadrunners’ scoring lead (14 goals) despite spending 15 games with the Coyotes.

“He just wandered down, scored three goals and wandered back,” Tippett said.

Perlini said it was good to keep skating.

“I find sometimes, two, three days off or whatever, it feels like you’re starting all over again,” he said. “It was nice to keep the cardio up.”

FROM BREAK TO BREAKNECK PACE

The Coyotes haven’t played a game since Saturday’s 2-1 win over the Islanders. Now they’ll play five games in the next seven days after their bye week.

“That was a good mental break,” center Martin Hanzal said. “Obviously we had days off so I guess the players are fans, but the affect on the schedule, you could see it in December that it was really tough. We had a lot of games.

“It’s going to affect the schedule for sure but on the other side, you are well rested so we should be OK.”

Tippett outlined some of the keys to coming out of the break and jumping right into games.

“It’ll be short shifts, it’ll be everybody involved [Friday] night and hopefully we use that energy to try to play well,” he said.

LOOSE PUCKS

— Hanzal practiced Thursday and expects to play Friday. He said he pulled a muscle that forced him to miss the Islanders game but the break helped it heal.

— Defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson was excused from practice to attend to a personal matter.

— Forwards Jordan Martinook (upper body) and Ryan White (lower body) both skated before practice on Thursday but are listed as day to day and probably won’t play vs. the Jets. Left wing Max Domi (hand) also skated before practice but is still a few weeks away from returning.

–Center Brad Richardson (leg) was talking to Coyotes staff outside the locker room before practice. He is out of his cast and appears to be walking normally.
