ASU football will show off its timeless white-gold uniforms for the second game this season, this time when in Ames on Saturday to take on Iowa State.

Sparky returns to prominence on a gold helmet that has a maroon stripe bisecting it and white jerseys will display “Arizona State” in maroon with gold-outlined maroon numbers.

Gold pants, maroon gloves and maroon shoes complete the look for the Sun Devils, who carry a 5-3 record (3-2 in Big 12) into Saturday.

ASU previously wore the same outfit at home for a Week 4 matchup against Baylor.

At that point, the defending Big 12 champion had quarterback Sam Leavitt in the fold but now have to lean on backup Jeff Sims with Leavitt out.

The opposing Cyclones (5-3, 2-3 in Big 12) will be wearing red and yellow uniforms in front of their home crowd. Red will be the dominant color of the helmet, jersey and pants whereas the yellow spells out “Iowa State” on the jersey and outlines the white numbers and “Cyclones” on the helmet.

ASU-Iowa State kicks off at 10 a.m. MST and can be heard on 98.7 and the Arizona Sports app. Watch the game on TNT.

I'm glad they're wearing the yellow helmets, as had they gone with white, they would have looked like Wyoming . . . Should have gone with the winning throw-back uniforms they wore against Texas Tech. Either way, what you wear doesn't matter, just play turnover and penalty free football in Ames.
