Kiana Williams signs with Mercury for rest of the season

The Phoenix Mercury signed guard Kiana Williams to a contract for the rest of the season.

Williams appeared in six games for the Mercury, averaging 5.0 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.

Her last appearance for the Mercury was on July 16 in a loss to the Minnesota Lynx.

She scored nine points in 27 minutes, including two three pointers.

Williams was waived by the team on July 10 but resigned to multiple seven-day contracts as a bench option.

Before her time in Phoenix this season, Williams had WNBA stops in Seattle (2021-2022, 2024) and Connecticut (2022).

Williams was selected 18th overall in the 2021 WNBA Draft after winning a national championship with Stanford.

The Mercury have 10 games left before the playoffs. The team is tied for fourth in the WNBA with a 21-13 record and is a half-game back from second place.
