As the Eric Bledsoe/Phoenix Suns restricted free agent drama continues to percolate, one thing remains a mystery. Does Bledsoe want to even play with the Suns?
Bledsoe and his camp reportedly have rejected the Suns’ four-year, $48 million offer and are seeking a max deal, which would pay the point guard $84 million over five years.
The Suns haven’t beefed up their offer, nor has any of the other 29 NBA franchises signed Bledsoe to an offer sheet.
Bledsoe has been pretty invisible (at least to those of us in Phoenix) this offseason. Earlier this summer, he popped up and spoke to the media during his basketball camp in Birmingham, Alabama. During the brief interview, Bledsoe claimed that the Suns “are using restricted free agency against me. But I understand that.”
Now he’s surfaced again — this time on the Instagram account of LeBron James himself. “The King” posted the following photo Friday.
The photo included the following caption: “Great work today lil bro @ebled2!! Future All-Star in this league in no time. PHX break bread. #Klutch #Work #GymRats #StriveForGreatness”
PHX break bread? Is James suggesting that the Suns’ front office initiate with Bledsoe’s camp and hash things out? Or is “break bread” another way of saying “stop low-balling my boy?”
If only James would have been more clear with his caption instead of using way too many hashtags.
