...

The Arizona Diamondbacks (12-14) may have had a bit of pent-up energy, or a touch of cabin fever after getting rained out two nights in a row in Colorado.

That could’ve been why they were able to score 18 runs in two games over the course of seven hours to sweep a doubleheader against the Rockies.

Paul Goldschmidt hit his seventh home run of the season in the fourth inning of a 5-1 game two win, and in doing so, opened the floodgates for what had previously been a scoreless outing.

Arizona added three more runs in the sixth courtesy of a two-out, two-run double from David Peralta, and Goldschmidt sent him in with a RBI single for the 4-1 lead.

Catcher Tuffy Gosewisch then orchestrated a beautiful bunt to third and was able to squeeze a single out of it while scoring A.J. Pollock.

The win gave Arizona its first doubleheader road sweep since 2006. What were the numbers?

1

Pitcher Robbie Ray made his Diamondbacks debut, allowing five hits and one run alongside five strikeouts in six innings pitched for a 1.50 ERA.

.480

Despite going hitless in the first game against Colorado, Goldschmidt notched two hits, including a homer, against the Rockies in game two with two RBI andis now hitting .480 against Colorado in the last 11 games.

3/4

Gosewisch hit well in the second game against the Rockies, going 3-for-4 with a run and RBI.

The Diamondbacks’ 18 runs scored against Colorado mark a franchise record for runs scored in a doubleheader series.

4-1

With the pair of wins Wednesday, Arizona improved its record against Colorado this season to 4-1.

The Diamondbacks return to Phoenix for a four-game series against the San Diego Padres, beginning Thursday at 6:40 p.m.
