The fallout from the June Jones-Arizona State saga continues to surface.

Leigh Steinberg, who represents the SMU coach, wrote the following in a brief blog post:

Just had one of the most bizarre endings to a set of productive discussions to bring a client to a new situation. Everything was set,few tweaks left, and the principal decision maker yanks the deal w no real explanation.

This came out about 90 minutes after news broke that Arizona State had pulled their offer to the coach when it been reported by several sources that the deal was nearly done.

Later on, Steinberg posted again, obviously frustrated with what was being said about his client in the aftermath of the ASU situation crumbling:

June Jones character is impeccable and unimpeachable, has done charitable&community, active&spiritual Christian faith. For any institution to try and scorch the earth by impugning man of honor is despicable—cowardly leaks.

Micro Crow is calling the shots. Big money frowned on Jones Crow pulls out. Will use Lisa later to point the blame finger at her. Ask anyone at ASU who runs the place? The Crow.

Would you trust Lisa Love? She's a train wreck, I give kudos to Crow for taking the reins before she drove us off another cliff. Hopefully this signals her end

    I see the problem....
June Jones is a Christian and has faith... well this won't fit at ASU... the subculture at ASU is against this 100%. Now I understand... ASU, you blew it. You missed a great hire for your program and it would've opened a pipeline of Island recruits. This would have built the base for a strong and long term program....

    No way to treat Jones
Make no mistake, I did not think hiring Jones was a good idea. I was against it. I love the maroon and gold, but their action against Jones today was unprofessional and disgraceful. You don't offer a job, then pull it away after the man accepts it. Pathetic effort. Not so proud of the maroon and gold after this embarassing coaching search. Those responsible should have their jobs taken away as well.

June Jones Not Good For ASU
June Jones is good a making a bad team average. He did that at Hawaii and had one lucky year with scheduling falling into place...most of his best players were walk-on's. He's doing the same thing at SMU....same deal there. He can't make a good team great. He knows he has to leave before the cavalry gets him before they realize he's not that good. I don't know how Leigh Steinberg can say June Jones is impeccable. Ask what he did in Hawaii - too many unbelievable things - he knew he had to leave...before you believe a sports agent.

Are you delusional? Jones would have set this program even further back then DE and Love has. Sure, you would have got a few big line men from the island, but Jones is no better of a coach then half of them in the pac. Good move by crow to pull the plug on this awful deal.

    No Christmas in June
So June won't be Raising Arizona State? Letting him back to SMU would be like taking your wife back after she's been running around on you while maxing out your credit card. Some "Christmas in June."
