Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker left the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers after being hit in the head by a pitch Monday night.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Walker stepped up to the plate looking at a 4-3 deficit.
With a 2-2 count, Dodgers pitcher Kenta Maeda went back to pitch, missing his mark with a 93 mph fastball and hitting Walker’s face guard on his helmet.
Walker went to the ground and could be seen spitting up blood.
The first baseman left under his own power.
He’s expected to get a CT scan Monday night and is dealing with facial contusions, according to manager Torey Lovullo.
Walker was 0-3 on the night before leaving the game.
Steven Souza Jr. came in as a pinch runner.
A.J. Pollock would add a run in the ninth inning, but the D-backs fell 7-4 to the Dodgers.
