According to nbcsports.com, New Mexico guard Demetrius Walker has transferred to Grand Canyon and will play this season for first-year head coach Dan Majerle.
Walker was a local prep star at Phoenix St. Mary’s and led them to a state championship in 2009.
From there, he went to Arizona State and played one season before transferring to New Mexico.
Walker averaged 7.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game in 2011-12.
After having a good 2011-12 season, Walker struggled last season and was suspended indefinitely for violating team rules in March and missed the rest of the season.
Grand Canyon won 23 games last season and is playing its first season at the Division I level in the WAC conference.
