Before free agency began on July 1, ESPN Insiders Jeremias Engelmann and Steve Ilardi stated in a list of underrated free agents that Leuer would be a potential steal for a team.
Leuer averaged career-highs in minutes (18.7), points (8.5), rebounds (5.6) and assists (1.1). The power forward played for Phoenix for one season after three years with the Memphis Grizzlies. Detroit will be the fifth team in Leuer’s career.
