Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer left the Monday Night Football bout against the Jets with a hamstring strain, the team announced midgame.

The ESPN television broadcast showed Palmer standing and chatting with Cardinals employees while remaining on the sidelines after the injury was announced. The quarterback said after the game that it was not severe and only cramping.

Arizona already had the game solidly in hand with a 28-3 lead after Palmer tossed a 9-yard fade route to Michael Floyd for a touchdown with 8:20 to play. It was not initially clear how Palmer injured himself.

Backup quarterback Drew Stanton entered the game for Arizona with the team soundly in position to hold onto the victory.

Palmer finished his night having completed 23-of-34 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown without an interception. It was the veteran’s first game back after he missed last Thursday’s win at San Francisco while on concussion protocol.

The Cardinals also lost receiver Jaron Brown late when he came down awkwardly and took a hit while making a tipped catch on a ball thrown by Stanton late in the fourth quarter. Trainers were looking at his left leg.
