The Phoenix Suns opted to break up the Morris twins this offseason, opting to send Marcus Morris to the Detroit Pistons in a deal earlier this month designed to free up cap space for a run at unrestricted free agent LaMarcus Aldridge.

That plan didn’t come to fruition, but the Detroit deal happened. At his introductory press conference in the Motor City, Morris threw some shade at the Suns organization.

“Everybody knew how bad I wanted to play with my brother. Phoenix knew. For them to trade me without consent or telling me was like a slap in the face, because of the contract I took from those guys and the money I took from them,” he said.

He also added comments about how he felt he didn’t have a good opportunity in Phoenix. The Suns gave Marcus an opportunity to play with his brother, a new $22 million contract and the most playing time he’s ever had in his career, but let’s not let facts get in the way.

Nearly a month later, Morris is still hurt.

In a Twitter conversation with Suns guard Archie Goodwin, Morris referred to Phoenix as “clowns.”

Morris is expected to compete with rookie Stanley Johnson out of Arizona for the Pistons’ starting small forward job in the 2015-16 season.

The Suns traded for Morris halfway through the 2012-13 season. In two-plus seasons with the Suns, the former Kansas star averaged 9.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest. He played in 186 games, starting 42, and saw an average of 22.7 minutes a night.
