Just three games into their season, the Arizona State Sun Devils might already have a significant injury to contend with.
Senior quarterback Taylor Kelly, who threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday’s 38-24 victory, landed awkwardly on a four-yard run late in third quarter after being taken down by Colorado defensive lineman Josh Tupou.
In between quarters, Kelly went to locker room at Folsom Field to be examined for what was determined to be a right foot injury.
The Eagle, Id. native did return to the sidelines early in the final quarter, however he was on crutches and sporting a walking boot on his right foot.
Junior Mike Bercovici filled in for the injured Kelly, playing the entire fourth quarter.
ASU hosts Pac-12 South foe UCLA at Sun Devil Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 25 — a game head coach Todd Graham believes his quarterback will be more than ready for.
“They’re going to be fine,” Graham said on the status of Kelly and linebacker Laiu Moeakiola. “They’ll be absolutely fine. Obviously, they were out for this game. We’ll go to work, but we have a week and a half to get them ready.”
