The Arizona Cardinals are bringing back veteran running back Chris Johnson, as first reported by the Associated Press’ Robert Baum.

Johnson, 31, did not make the original 53-man roster. Star running back David Johnson will potentially miss 2-3 months because of a dislocated wrist, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Head coach Bruce Arians said Monday that Johnson would “be an option.”

Kerwynn Williams, Andre Ellington and rookie Elijhaa Penny will also be in the mix.

Johnson rushed for 814 yards and three touchdowns in his first year with the team in 2015. In 2016, Johnson only played in four games before being placed on injured reserve because of a groin injury.

Johnson is less than 500 yards shy of 10,000 career rushing yards at 9,537. The mark has only been reached by 29 players in NFL history.

If Chris has anything left in the tank, then this will be a good signing. But. . .

Cards trying to rediscover that first half of 2015 magic. Recall David Johnson didn't become the starter until like game 10 that season which is close to when he'd return this season optimistically. Chris Johnson can still make plays and keep the chains moving as long as he doesn't fumble. Question is will Palmer wake up this season behind a questionable and injured Oline.

Had it in 15 as well.. To me this game was eerily similar to the Buffalo game last year.. Just couldn't get any real momentum going.. Though with Beth's pic 6, I thought the team would respond and roll from it.. But they didn't.. Its like everyone was looking at the other to make a play.. Palmer will look slow when he forced out of the pocket in 1.5 secs.. He has to have bout 3 to sling em.. And firmly believe the o line is gonna come out swinging..
One thing to remember, solid positive plays is just as contagious as bad ones.. And have a feeling CJ is gonna turn heads.. He really wants to get over 10k.. And we don't need a DJ replacement, just need to prove we can run to keep the D honest..
