TEMPE, Ariz. – Head coach Bruce Arians, now in his fifth year with the Arizona Cardinals, meets the media several times leading up to gameday.
Here, in this space, with help from the Cardinals’ media relations staff, we’ll highlight many of the key topics and personnel conversations he has with reporters following practice.
Opening statement:
“Alright, out for the game: John Brown, Adrian Peterson. A few other guys will be questionable. Everybody else did some work today, and it was a good week of preparation. I look forward to the game. Should be a good one.”
Patrick Peterson said his hamstring won’t keep him out of the game. Is he 100-percent for sure to play this week?
“Yes. He’s sore, but he did real well today.”
What kind of progress did Jared Veldheer make this week?
“Jared, he practiced good today. The strength is back in his arm, so he looks like he’ll be ready to go.”
Peterson said he feels like he’s in his prime. Do you see that as well?
“Oh, totally. Totally. He’s getting better and better, and since getting control of his body, his health, he’s just gotten better and better.”
He said he would like to play some offense.
“He used to be in the (play)book when we didn’t have any speed. He might be back in there again soon.”
He said he could play quarterback.
“He could. He could be a great ‘wildcat’ quarterback because he can throw.”
What’s the long-term prognosis for Adrian Peterson?
“I have no clue. It’s something that he and the doctors are working through.
Is it something serious?
“I mean he’s walking around fine. It’s just a matter of being able to take a hit and then getting all of his strength back.”
What keeps this team motivated for these final four games?
“We got great character in our locker room. I mean our guys, they come to work and we have super leadership. Again this week, there’s no letdown in their preparation whatsoever.”
