Coming off of a blowout victory over Cleveland, the Kansas City Chiefs may be without one of their key pieces in Sunday’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Former first-round pick Sammy Watkins missed practice on Wednesday and is considered day-to-day with a foot issue, according to Brooke Pryor of the Kansas City Star.

Watkins caught all five of his targets on Sunday for 62 receiving yards against the Browns secondary. NFL insider Ian Rappaport reported that Kansas City gave Watkins an MRI after Sunday’s contest, but suspects that his injury is “not serious.”

The 25-year-old is no stranger to the injury bug. Watkins has missed 12 games over the last three seasons and continuously battled through various injuries along the way.

Arizona needs any help it can get against the winningest team in the NFL. Kansas City is the first team to reach eight wins on the year, dominating all but one contest through nine weeks of the regular season.

The Cardinals had a bye week to rest and recover from the 18-15 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 28. Arizona has won two of its last four games, granted both wins came against the 49ers. If Watkins is sidelined for Sunday’s action, the Cardinals’ booming secondary will be able to focus on containing speedster Tyreek Hill.

Sunday’s meeting with the Chiefs will provide another opportunity for newly-appointed offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich to showcase his new offense. Kansas City is allowing the second-most opponent yards per game at 427.4 and has allowed seven teams to score 20 or more points this season.
