Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is one of three finalists for the Marvin Miller Man of the Year honor, an award voted on by MLB players and given to their peer who does the most by leading in the locker room and the community.

Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels and Curtis Granderson of the Milwaukee Brewers are also in the running.

Goldschmidt is being recognized for his and his wife Amy’s work at Phoenix Children’s Hospital over the past several years. It’s there where they founded the Goldy’s Fund 4 Kids, which provides iPads, movies, books and toys to the children who are hospitalized.

Granderson, who has won the Marvin Miller award twice before, has put his efforts into the Grand Kids Foundation, which encourages youth education, fitness and health.

Trout’s nomination by his peers stems from his work as an ambassador for Big Brothers Big Sisters, among other contributions.

MLB will announce the winner of the award on Nov. 27.

The winner of the Marvin Miller Man of the Year award will receive a $50,000 grant from the MLB Players Trust to be given to a charity of their choice. The other two finalists will receive $10,000.
