John Skelton nominated for NFL award

Nov 15, 2011, 4:18 PM | Updated: 6:57 pm

Apparently leading a fourth quarter comeback gets you
noticed around the league.

Cardinals QB John Skelton, who threw the game-winning
touchdown pass to Early Doucet with less than two minutes
remaining in Sunday’s 21-17 win over the Eagles, has been
nominated for the GMC “Never Say Never Moment of the Week.”

The award is given for the best moment or play of the week
that represents determination and perseverance, which
Skelton definitely showed in Philadelphia.

The second-year pro completed five of eight passes for 100
yards on the game-winning drive, including 30-yard
completion to LaRod Stephens-Howling on a fourth-and-two
from the Arizona 32 yard line.

Other finalists for the award include Broncos QB Tim Tebow
for his fourth-quarter TD pass and Steelers DB William Gay
for his game-clinching interception. The winner will be
announced Friday during the NFL Network’s “Around the
League” show.
