Paul Goldschmidt’s career with Diamondbacks: By the numbers

Former Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt will go down as one of the best to ever suit up for the organization.

A holder of numerous franchise records, Goldschmidt’s consistency at the plate will be remembered long after he was traded on Wednesday to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Here is a look at some of Goldschmidt’s achievements, by the numbers.

From the 2013 season on, Goldschmidt was a representative for the D-backs at the All-Star game. He has earned the honor six seasons in a row and is the only D-back to ever make at least five straight All-Star games.

2013

Goldschmidt’s 2013 season was off the charts. Only 25 years old at the time, Goldschmidt led the league in home runs (36), RBI (125), slugging percentage (.551), OPS (.952) and total bases (332). Despite the ridiculous season, he finished second in MVP voting to former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen.

On two separate occasions, Goldschmidt has been the runner-up in MVP voting. There was 2013 to McCutchen and also 2015 to Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper. He finished third in 2017.

96

When Goldschmidt hit his 29th home run of the season on Aug. 22 against the Los Angeles Angels, it was his 96th in Chase Field. That broke Luis Gonzalez’s franchise record for the most home runs hit at home by a D-back.

30/100

Goldschmidt is the only player in franchise history to record at least 30 home runs and 100 RBI three separate times.

3

Goldschmidt won three Gold Gloves and Silver Slugger awards and received those awards in the same seasons, 2013, 2015 and 2017. Don Mattingly is the only other first baseman in history to win both awards in three separate seasons.

100

When Goldschmidt stole his 100th career base on Apr. 5 of last year, he became one of five first baseman in history to amount to at least 100 career home runs and stolen bases.
