Diamondbacks announce player nicknames for MLB Players’ Weekend

Aug 6, 2019, 4:00 PM

Last season’s Players’ Weekend was filled with the creativity of individual players who were given the opportunity to showcase their nicknames and other passions.

The festive weekend returns for its third year on Aug. 23-25 and D-backs favorites like Freight Train (David Peralta), Zoombiya (Jarrod Dyson) and Slick Nick (Nick Ahmed) will be rocking monochromatic black or white uniforms.

Because the D-backs are playing in Milwaukee that weekend, the Brewers will decide whether they want to wear black or white.

While the jersey design isn’t in the hands of the players, they can still add their own flare by wearing colored gloves, wristbands, sleeves and other gear.

On Tuesday the D-backs released the team list of nicknames that will be worn on the back of each jersey.

Last season, the D-backs lost two out of three Players’ Weekend games to the Mariners.
