The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly bringing a defensive lineman in for a visit days after releasing defensive end Darius Philon.

Corey Liuget, who spent eight years with the Chargers, is visiting the Cardinals Thursday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Liuget started all 16 games four times between 2012-2016. Last year he only played six due to a PED suspension and a torn quad, according to NBCSports.

Arizona is in need of defensive line help after releasing Philon. Philon signed a two-year, $10 million contract this offseason with the Cardinals and was expected to start at defensive end, but he was released Saturday after he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Rookie third-round draft pick Zach Allen moved into the first string DE spot on the Cardinals’ unofficial depth chart.

If Liuget were to sign, he would likely be a contender to start at that position. He played defensive end full-time over his first three years with the Chargers and split between DE and DT his fourth, totaling 169 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, 18 sacks and 15 passes defended over those four seasons.

His best year was his second season, 2012, when he had seven sacks, 11 tackles for loss and nine passes defended.

Liuget has played 45 games over the last four seasons and started 42, totaling 81 tackles, 25 tackles for loss and six sacks, according to Pro Football Reference.

The Cardinals play the Oakland Raiders on Thursday night for their second preseason game. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
