Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson returns to lineup vs. Rockets

After originally listed as doubtful ahead of Friday’s matchup with the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson was back on the hardwood Friday night.

The tilt marked the first game back for the rookie since Jan. 16. Johnson had missed the previous 10 games with a right quad contusion.

In 14 minutes of action, Johnson recorded two rebounds, one assist and a steal. He was 0-for-6 from the field as the Suns took the 127-91 win over the Rockets.

Before Friday night’s game, Johnson averaged 7.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 19.8 minutes per contest through 38 games played this season. He shot 42% from the field, 39.8% from 3-point range. In the last game before going down with injury, Johnson recorded 10 points, four rebounds and one block. He shot 66.7% from deep, making two of his three tries, and 44.4% overall.

While Johnson is back in the lineup Friday night, a handful of Suns remain on the shelf.

That includes centers Frank Kaminsky (left patella stress fracture) and Aron Baynes (hip), power forward Dario Saric (ankle) and guards Tyler Johnson (right knee) and Ty Jerome (calf).

Friday marks the 20th straight game Kaminsky has missed, while Baynes hasn’t played since Jan. 20 (nine games). Saric and Jerome have missed the last four games, and Tyler Johnson hasn’t played the last three.

With the win, the Suns now sit at 21-31, 12th in the Western Conference.
