The Arizona Cardinals re-signed safety Curtis Riley to the practice squad a day after the team released him from the active roster.

Additionally, the Cardinals restored safety Kentrell Brice to the practice squad from the practice squad injured reserve list. Brice was placed on the PS/IR with an ankle injury on Sept. 14.

The Cardinals cut Riley on Tuesday, two days after the safety made his lone start for the team in the Week 4 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Riley accounted for six tackles in the outing.

“I thought those young guys were kind of thrown into the fire and I thought they played hard,” head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Wednesday morning via Zoom. “We have to continue to get better at that position.”

Riley signed with the Cardinals on Sept. 17 after they placed starting safety Jalen Thompson on the injured reserve. He made eight total tackles in two games.

Riley went undrafted out of Fresno State in 2015. Before joining the Cardinals, Riley played in 43 games over three seasons for the Tennessee Titans, New York Giants and the then-Oakland Raiders.

Brice has spent time with the Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears. All of Brice’s regular season action came with Green Bay from 2016 to 2018. He was cut by the Bears on July 28.

Brice appeared in 36 games, starting 14 of them. The safety has one career interception and 100 career tackles, including 82 solo tackles and 18 assists.
