The Phoenix Suns waived forward Johnathan Motley on Saturday night.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania first reported the move. The team has also removed the forward from their roster.
Motley was reportedly signed to a training camp contract this offseason with Phoenix.
For the Agua Caliente Clippers last year, the 25-year-old Motley averaged 24.0 points on 51.7% shooting.
The 6-foot-8, 230-pound big man grabbed 8.1 rebounds, adding 3.2 assists and 1.0 blocks in 26 games last year.
Motley, who went undrafted out of Baylor in 2017, has 46 games of NBA experience with the Dallas Mavericks (2017-18) and Los Angeles Clippers (2018-20).
He averaged 4.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 8.1 minutes per game as an NBA player.
Phoenix has a plethora of forwards at their disposal, with Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and Dario Saric expected to have meaningful roles this season. The team also has rookie Jalen Smith and Abdel Nader on the roster.
The Suns’ roster now sits at 15 players ahead of their season opener against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.
