D-backs not changing approach to Gallardo in Game 5

The Arizona Diamondbacks will square off in Game 5 of the NLDS in the exact same scenario that they entered the playoffs with: an important game, played in Milwaukee, against one of the team’s top pitchers, Yovani Gallardo.

And the game plan will not be altered from that of Game 1.

“Everybody has their own thing, but we’re just going to approach [Gallardo] like we did last time and hope to come out on top. There’s nothing to change, there’s nothing crazy about it. We’ve been there. We’ve faced him already,” said D-backs third baseman Ryan Roberts.

Gallardo made quick work of the D-backs in Game 1, giving up only a solo homer to Roberts in the eighth. He also only gave up four hits.

The D-backs have been on an offensive tear as of late though, something they undoubtedly will look to continue in Milwaukee as they look to push the Brewers out of the playoffs. It won’t be easy, however, given Gallardo’s prowess and the Brewers having the best home record in the regular season.

“For the most part, they were sold out when we went there early on in the year, too,” Roberts said when comparing the regular season atmosphere to that of a postseason crowd at Miller Park.

“The only difference is they all had white towels,” Roberts said.
