With less fans in the stands this year, the Arizona Diamondbacks are introducing a new weekend of events to connect with fans virtually.

D-backs Madness, taking place March 20-21, is an online, on-air and social event featuring top players, coaches and executives.

Behind-the-scenes content, as well as live and recorded events, will be shared throughout the weekend on all D-backs’ social platforms and website, according to the team.

Ahead of the March 20 game broadcast, 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station will air a special two-hour pregame show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“In years past, we have been able to hold a FanFest where our players and staff could interact with our fans and this year, that is not possible in the same way,” D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall said in a press release. “Instead, we have created a series of online and on-air interactions and content for fans to enjoy as we gear up for Opening Day at Chase Field.”

FOX Sports Arizona will air a virtual reunion of the 2001 World Series championship team following the March 21 spring game broadcast.

Additionally, the 20th anniversary logo of that historic title will be unveiled online before a live Town Hall on the team’s Facebook page.

Since the event coincides with the first two days of the NCAA Tournament, the D-backs said they are launching their own “baseball bracket” where fans can vote on their favorite elements of the game.

Meanwhile, manager Torey Lovullo will unveil his own tournament bracket and several players will participate in a game of H.O.R.S.E. to celebrate college basketball.

Spanish-language events with David Peralta, Ketel Marte and Eduardo Escobar will be live on the team’s Spanish website and social accounts.

Over the course of the weekend, the team will also be holding a giveaway at its games. The first 1,000 fans (ages 21 and older) will receive a commemorative glass cup, courtesy of Coors Light, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 2001 World Series championship.
