Si Woo Kim forced to putt with 3-wood after breaking putter at Masters

Golf is very much about keeping your cool when things aren’t necessarily going your way.

Si Woo Kim clearly did not follow that guideline in Round 2 of the Masters on Friday afternoon.

After getting to 3-under on the round through the front nine, Kim kicked off the back with three straight pars and a birdie.

Then things took a bit of a turn on the par-4 14th hole.

Navigating the hole fairly well, Kim was left with a little clean-up putt for par after using a Texas wedge to get within a few feet of the cup.

Unfortunately for Kim, the ball trickled just enough to the low side of the hole before lipping out, resulting in a bogey.

That led to a very visibly frustrated Kim, who took his anger out on his putter.

Leave it to Augusta National to bring out a player's frustration. 😳

And just like that, Kim no longer had a putter, with the club breaking from the slam. He also tossed his ball into the creek for good measure.

When it rains, it pours.

Instead of navigating the final four holes with the flat stick, Kim was forced to use his 3-wood to finish the round.

Surprisingly, Kim didn’t let a three-putt — or a broken club — completely dismantle his round, remaining in contention for the Green Jacket through two rounds. He ended up paring out for a 3-under 69. His bogey on the 14th was his lone blemish on the round.

He’s currently tied for sixth at 4-under for the tournament.

Here’s to a less-frustrating Round 3 at Augusta National.
