The Phoenix Suns came out strong in the first quarter of Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals with one of its best offensive quarters in the series.

For the first time since the 3rd quarter of Game 1, the Suns scored more than 30 points in a single frame.

The scoring output broke a streak of 17-consecutive quarters where the Suns were unable to eclipse the 30-point plateau.

Phoenix actually finished the first quarter with 33-29 lead behind balanced scoring led by Deandre Ayton with 10, Devin Booker with nine and Chris Paul with six.

The Suns got things started early scoring on a dunk by Mikal Bridges on the first play of the game when the Clippers showed a zone defense.

Head coach Monty Williams emphasized how focused the team was in film sessions leading up to Game 6 and the team made an early statement that their game plan would be effective.

All five Suns starters scored in the first quarter. Cam Payne also contributed with two points off the bench.

With a win in Game 6, the Suns will earn a berth in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993.
