Langston Galloway, who played for the Phoenix Suns last season, has agreed to join the Golden State Warriors on a training camp deal, reports The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater.

Galloway appeared in 40 games for the Suns off the bench in 2020-21, averaging 4.8 points and 1.1 rebounds over 11 minutes per game.

The veteran guard hit a career-high 45% of his shots, including 42% accuracy from three-point range.

His departure from Phoenix comes as the backend of the backcourt sees a refresh. The Suns also lost veteran backup guard E’Twaun Moore from last year’s squad, as he joined the Orlando Magic.

Phoenix re-signed starting point guard Chris Paul as well as backup Cam Payne after its NBA Finals run, but the team also added more playmaking depth by adding free agent Elfrid Payton and trading defense-first guard Jevon Carter to the Brooklyn Nets to acquire shooter Landry Shamet.

It’s expected that the regular rotation will include Paul and starting guard Devin Booker, with Payne and likely Shamet coming off the bench.

Galloway, 29, is entering his eighth NBA season. He played for the New York Knicks (2014-16), New Orleans Pelicans (2016-17) and Detroit Pistons (2017-20) before joining the Suns as a free agent last offseason.
