You know that viral video of actor Paul Rudd going, “Look at us!”?

That’s how it felt watching Arizona Cardinals quarterback Colt McCoy go 2-1 while starter Kyler Murray sat out due to an ankle injury.

Given how much of the success of Arizona’s offense relies on Murray’s legs and improvisational skills, it was a surprising outcome, and that’s before you account for other missing offensive pieces like DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) and Chase Edmonds (ankle).

McCoy’s 8-22 record as a starter across his 10 years in the NFL prior to his latest stop in Arizona did not provide a source of much optimism when he replaced Murray but made it that much better when he was able to produce two victories for the Cardinals heading into the bye week.

Here is McCoy’s pair of wins, by the numbers:

2014

The last time a team won a game that McCoy started was last year for the New York Giants, a win that also came in Seattle. Before that, though, McCoy had lost his last six straight starts. You’ve got to go back to 2014 to find the next victory, a 20-17 final for the Washington against the Dallas. Two wins in three weeks to begin McCoy’s career with the Cardinals had to feel nice compared to two in the last seven years.

84.6

McCoy’s completion percentage of 84.6% in the Cardinals’ Week 9 win over the San Francisco 49ers was a career high across 33 career starts. McCoy completed 22 of 26 pass attempts in the victory.

35

The 35 completions McCoy threw in Seattle for Arizona’s victory against the Seahawks on Sunday were also a career high.

3

McCoy’s 328 passing yards on Sunday was the third-most he’s ever had in a game and is also just the third time he’s eclipsed 300 yards.

40

McCoy’s 44 attempts on Sunday made it the first time he had won a game in which he had attempted at least 40 passes. He was previously 0-5.

31

In McCoy’s 10 career wins as a starter, the 31 points the Cardinals scored versus the 49ers were the second-most. The highest was a 34-14 victory for McCoy with the Cleveland Browns in 2010 against the New England Patriots.
