With the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams getting primetime treatment for Monday Night Football, the work week has been a little off-schedule for the Cardinals.

Playing on Monday, the Cardinals’ week has been adjusted a day late, so Sunday is the new Saturday in terms of game preparation.

Instead of focusing solely on the Rams, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingbury will use Sunday to prepare for the next couple opponents as the schedule ramps up.

“Particularly with the stretch we have coming up, with going six days before Detroit then six days before Indy, we’ll get ahead on those opponents and try to get some of that game plan done because it’s going to be a quick turnaround on Tuesday,” Kingsbury said on Saturday.

While Kingsbury will use the rare Sunday off to look ahead, Cardinals defensive lineman Corey Peters plans to spend the day like the rest of us.

“For me, I’m gonna tune into some of the football,” Peters said on Saturday. “It’s always nice to be able to see what other teams are doing, just to kind of see scores … I think guys always kind of keep an eye out for the standings and the teams that we want to put some distance between us and them for seeding purposes.

“It’s nice to be able to take in some NFL football and be able to relax and then play on Monday.”

While Kingsbury may be looking ahead to the Cardinals upcoming games against the Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts, Peters said he will be looking for the best matchups on Sunday.

“I’m not really a guy that gets too far ahead on game planning, we have plenty of time to take apart teams once we get to that week.”
