Georgia DL Travon Walker turns heads at NFL Draft Combine

Mar 6, 2022, 9:35 AM | Updated: 9:38 am

Travon Walker is a 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive lineman from the University of Georgia that turned many heads with his gaudy NFL Combine numbers.

Walker showed that he ranks towards the top of position in the broad jump, 40-yard dash, vertical leap and 3-cone drill.

The defensive lineman ran an official time of 4.51 seconds in the 40-yard dash, the third fastest of the position group and ahead of projected top picks in Michigan’s Adian Hutchinson and Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Although the dash time was enough to boost his stock, Walker then showed off with a 35.5″ vertical leap, another number that jumps off the page for his weight and position.

The collegiate national champion capped his incredible pro day with a 10’3″ broad jump and an incredible 6.89-second 3-cone drill.

For example, Ohio State’s Nick Bosa ran a 4.79 40-yard dash, 33.5″ vertical and took 7.1 seconds on the 3-cone drill as an athletic edge rusher.

Bosa was selected No. 2 overall in 2019 behind Arizona Cardinals’ Kyler Murray.

With the No. 23 pick in this year’s NFL Draft, Walker could be a potential target for Arizona.

Although it is uncertain whether he will be available after Saturday’s combine numbers, he would fit a position of need as a defensive tackle for the Cardinals.

With defensive tackle Corey Peters hitting the unrestricted free agent market this offseason, Rashard Lawrence will be the only true defensive tackle on Arizona’s depth chart.

Walker currently ranks as the No. 14 prospect on ESPN’s Todd McShay’s Mock Draft.

The defensive lineman finished his career at Georgia with 61 tackles, 13 for a loss and 9.5 sacks over 29 games.
