The Wisconsin Badgers will play the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl on Dec. 27 at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix.

The two teams represent the Big Ten and Big 12, respectively, and are seemingly constants come bowl season each year. This will be the Badgers’ 22nd straight bowl appearance, the third-longest active streak in college football. Oklahoma State will make its 17th straight bowl appearance.

Wisconsin finished the season 6-6, 4-5 in conference, while Oklahoma State finished 7-5, 4-5 in conference.

“The Guaranteed Rate Bowl features the bowl season’s only scheduled Big Ten vs. Big 12 matchup with Wisconsin and Oklahoma State playing for the first time ever. That’s what Bowl season is all about, seeing matchups that don’t normally occur,” Guaranteed Rate Bowl Board Chair Randal Norton said.

The Badgers will be under new head coach Luke Fickell, who came over from Cincinnati at the end of the season. This will be the first game he coaches for the Big Ten side after taking the Bearcats to the College Football Playoffs just a year ago.

Wisconsin leaned heavily on its defense throughout the year, especially the pass rush, leading the Big 10 in sacks with 31.

The Cowboys rely heavily on their offense, reaching as high as No. 9 in the rankings, before losing four of their last five games to fall unranked.

The game will kick off at 8:15 p.m. MST.
