Flo Rida appreciates Bob Brenly’s dad joke from the D-backs broadcast

The Arizona Diamondbacks were in the fourth inning of an eventual win against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday when TV analyst Bob Brenly found his opening.

With Texas’ Rowdy Tellez at the plate, Brenly dropped what first appeared to be a fun fact about 45-year-old rapper Flo Rida.

“You know, a lot of people don’t know that Flo Rida used to be a pitching coach,” Brenly told partner Steve Berthiaume.

This, it turned out, was the front end of a dad joke.

“Yeah! Guys would ask him, ‘Where should I throw my curveball with two strikes?'” Brenly said. “And he’d say, ‘Low, low, low, low.'”

Flo Rida caught wind of the joke, which was a wild one.

Brenly’s joke was a reference to Flo Rida’s and T-Pain’s 2007 breakout single “Low” — you know, the one about Apple Bottom jeans and boots with the fur.

The hit single has more recently been attached to local Fry’s Food Stores commercials, which are targeting millennials and letting them know that their party rock songs are now very old.

Speaking of which: Diamondbacks fans who are also Flo Rida fans have a nice opportunity right ’round the corner. They can watch the team face the Boston Red Sox on Friday, then see the rapper perform in a free postgame concert to give them a good feeling before heading home.
