ASU men’s basketball to face Oklahoma in Tulsa neutral-court matchup

Arizona State men’s basketball will play Oklahoma in Tulsa this December, a neutral-court return game from when the two programs matched up in Phoenix last season.

This season’s iteration will be on Dec. 5 at BOK Arena, which was previously home to the WNBA’s Tulsa Shock (2010-15), both teams announced.

ASU won last year’s game at Mortgage Matchup Center, 86-70, on Dec. 6, marking the biggest nonconference loss for the Sooners in nearly five years (22-point loss to Xavier on Dec. 9, 2020). It was ASU’s largest margin of victory against a high-major opponent all season.

Five players hit multiple 3s in the win for ASU, led by point guard Moe Odum’s 17 points (3-for-6 from 3) and six assists.

However, only one Sun Devil who saw action in that contest will be back for the second matchup: shooting guard Bryce Ford, who had two points in 22 minutes.

The rematch against the Sooners will be one of 14 nonconference games, first-year head coach Randy Bennett said at his introduction in May.

The coach confirmed other matchups will include Pac-12 legacy teams UCLA and Oregon State, and ASU will also participate in the Acrisure Series in Palm Springs, though its opponents have not yet been announced.

The Sun Devils’ 18-game Big 12 slate includes home-and-home series against Arizona, Kansas State and TCU.
