Jeremiyah Love will not play in Hall of Fame Game vs. Panthers

Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love will not play against the Carolina Panthers in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday night, head coach Mike LaFleur told reporters on Wednesday.

Love being ruled out by LaFleur follows the running back’s comments made last week saying he was going to play in the game. Love was later listed as RB2 on the team’s first depth chart of the season.

Carson Beck, the third-round pick listed at third on the depth chart behind Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew, will start at quarterback for the Cardinals.

Arizona selected Love with the third overall pick in this year’s draft. The rookie out of Notre Dame is expected to be the lead back in Arizona during his first season in the pros.

The Cardinals have three more preseason games before opening the regular season at the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 13.
