Cardinals trading for Jaguars TE Hunter Long

The Arizona Cardinals are getting some tight end help.

With 53-man roster cuts looming, the Cardinals have traded for tight end Hunter Long and a 2028 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick, the team announced Sunday.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo first reported the news.

Long is coming off nine games (three starts) with Jacksonville last year. He recorded 12 catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns as he served primarily as a blocking tight end.

Before his time in Jacksonville, Long spent two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams from 2023-24. Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur was the Rams OC during Long’s tenure.

That included a 17-game effort in 2024 where Long set career highs in offensive (279) and special teams (263) snaps.

Long entered the league as a 2021 third-round pick (No. 81 overall) with the Miami Dolphins.

Bringing over some tight end help makes sense with Tip Reiman already ruled out for Week 1 and his status beyond that in question, as he is still on the active/physically unable to perform list.

Leading the tight ends room is Trey McBride, followed by Elijah Higgins and Teagan Quitoriano.
